OKLAHOMA CITY

PUPPY TRAINING IN OKLAHOMA CITY

You brought home a puppy. The puppy brought home a clock, and the clock is already running. The decisions you make in the next twelve weeks decide whether you spend the next twelve years with a dog you actually like.

K9Elite's puppy program was built for that window. We don't take your puppy off and bring him back "trained." One of our trainers coaches you — the handler — on how to raise, lead, and live with the dog you chose. By the end of the program, the skills are yours. You don't need to hire a trainer again.

$150 in-home evaluation, credited in full toward your chosen program.

WHY THE FIRST MONTHS DECIDE EVERYTHING

A puppy's brain is wiring itself to whatever your home, your street, and your routines teach it. Messy in, messy adult. Calm and consistent in, calm and confident adult. The work you do in the first few months is the work you don't have to redo for the next twelve years.

K9Elite puppy training in Oklahoma City is built around the things that decide whether life with your dog is easy or exhausting:

  • Where does this dog potty — and how do I teach that without losing my mind?

  • He's biting my hands, my kids, my ankles. When does this stop?

  • The doorbell rings and he loses it. Help.

  • He won't settle when I have company over.

  • He blows up the second he sees another dog on the neighborhood walk.

Every one of these is a problem you can solve — if you know how to lead a puppy before the problem becomes a habit.

WHAT K9ELITE PUPPY PROGRAMS COVER

The puppy curriculum is organized around the skills that determine whether your dog is easy to live with. Every area is taught to you, then practiced in your real home, on your real walks, with your real puppy.

HOUSE TRAINING AND CRATE WORK
Potty routines, crate comfort, alone-time training, and clean-up of the common mistakes. The puppy learns your house's bathroom rules. You learn how to set them without yelling, confusion, or constant cleanup.

BITE INHIBITION AND PUPPY MOUTHING
Dogs who never learn a soft mouth become adult dogs who hurt people. We teach you how to give the puppy the feedback he needs now — calmly, consistently, and without breaking trust.

SOCIALIZATION, DONE RIGHT
Calm exposure to new people, friendly dogs, surfaces (grass, concrete, tile, metal grates), and sounds (thunder, vacuums, downtown traffic). Not "throw your puppy into it" socialization — controlled, on-purpose exposure that builds confidence instead of fear.

IMPULSE CONTROL
Wait at the door. Wait for the food bowl. Leave that sock. Settle on a mat while you eat dinner. These are the small skills that keep a dog from becoming a public nuisance by eight months old.

BOUNDARIES AND PLACE

Off the kitchen counter. Out of the guest room. On the rug when the toddler is crawling. Boundaries aren't punishment — they're the rules of your house, taught early and kindly.

HANDLING AND BODY CONFIDENCE

Paw touch, ear lift, mouth open, brush, nail trim. A puppy who tolerates being handled grows into a dog your vet and your groomer can actually work on.

CONFIDENCE OUTSIDE THE HOUSE

Car rides. Elevators. Busy parking lots. The vet's lobby. The patio at a crowded restaurant. Confidence is built on purpose, one experience at a time, so your dog can handle real Oklahoma City life without falling apart.

Foundation Obedience That Holds

Name, sit, down, recall, leash walking without pulling. Not performance obedience — the boring foundation that every other thing in a dog's life depends on.

How K9Elite Is Different

Most dog training in this country falls into one of two camps. Either the trainer keeps the dog   for a few weeks and hands back a "trained" dog with no real plan for the owner — or the trainer gives you a list of tips and sends you home to figure it out.

K9Elite is neither. Board-and-train is saved for special circumstances.

The model is this: in most cases, the puppy stays with you, and we coach you. Every session is built around the questions a real puppy owner has this week. The skills live in your hands — your timing, your tone, your leash handling, your consistency. By the time the program ends, you don't need a trainer anymore. You have the system.

That's the reason K9Elite exists. We don't want to be your forever trainer. We want to make ourselves unnecessary.

The Methods Behind the Results

Owner Coaching

You do the training. One of our trainers guides it. Every session happens in your home or on a real walk, working through the actual problems your actual puppy is bringing to your actual life. The skills get built into your hands, your timing, and your consistency — and they stay there after the program ends.

Operant Conditioning

Everything you do around your puppy is either making a behavior more likely or less likely. We'll teach you the mechanics — how to use food, play, attention, and clear, calm feedback so the right thing is easy and the wrong thing is pointless.

LIMA — Least Intrusive, Minimally Aversive

We start with the gentlest approach that gets the job done. Training is communication, not intimidation. Every plan is fair, humane and tailored to your puppy, and one of our trainers explains all of it at the evaluation.

Leash Leadership

The leash is your line of communication with the puppy — not a restraint, not a weapon. We coach you on how to walk with a puppy the way a good rider walks with a horse: calm posture, clear signals, no tug-of-war.

Communication and Markers

Yes. No. Free. Name. Sit. These are the five words a puppy needs to know first. Most "misbehavior" is miscommunication, and most miscommunication is bad timing. We fix the timing before we fix the dog.

Emotional Understanding

Puppies aren't plotting. They're mammals whose behavior follows their state — over-aroused, shut down, frustrated, scared, curious. We teach you to read your puppy's emotional state in real time and lead from there.

The ANCHOR System — Coty Cortez's Proprietary Method

The ANCHOR System is the framework Coty Cortez built over more than fifteen years of hands-on work with dogs across Oklahoma City and the surrounding area. Every K9Elite program, including puppy training, runs on these six pillars.

A — Accountability

The puppy's messes aren't the puppy's fault — they're the handler's gap. We teach you to take ownership of the environment you set up for the puppy, instead of blaming the puppy for what you didn't prevent.

N — Navigation

The walk. The kitchen. The front door. The backyard. The puppy follows your lead through every space he has access to. We coach how you move through those spaces so the puppy learns to move with you.

C — Communication

A marker word for "yes." A release word for "you're done." A recall cue. House manners aren't magic — they're a language, and you build the language before you build the obedience.

H — Harmony

A house where the dog and the people aren't arguing about the couch, the kitchen counter, the kids' toys, or who walks through the door first. Harmony is quiet, and it's the goal from week one.

O — Ownership

One set of rules, applied by every person in the household. The puppy doesn't get to play mom against dad, or run one set of rules in the kitchen and a different set in the living room.

R — Relationship

The reason the dog is in your house. Trust on both ends, patience in the middle, and a dog you enjoy having near you — for the rest of his life.

ANCHOR is what you get when you enroll in a K9Elite program. It's not a course you download. It's the way every K9Elite trainer teaches, and it's what makes the results hold.

Meet Coty Cortez

K9Elite is led by Coty Cortez — Marine Corps veteran and the founder of the ANCHOR System. Coty has spent more than fifteen years working with dogs in Oklahoma City and the surrounding metro, and built the ANCHOR System because the standard dog-training industry wasn't producing dogs he was willing to live with.

The ANCHOR System is what K9Elite has run on since the day it opened. It's the framework every client — puppy program included — works through.

How Programs Start

Every program except Deluxe starts with a $150 in-home evaluation, credited in full toward your chosen program. If your program is $2,800, you pay $2,650 remaining. One of our trainers comes to your home in the Oklahoma City metro, watches how you and the puppy interact, and lays out the plan that fits your house, your schedule, and your dog.

After the evaluation, you'll know:

  • What your puppy needs to work on first

  • How the program is structured in your home

  • What the timeline looks like

  • What the investment is

That first visit is where the relationship starts, and where the plan gets specific to your puppy.

Frequently Asked Questions

When should I start puppy training?

As soon as the puppy comes home. The socialization window starts closing around sixteen weeks. The skills your dog learns in the first twelve weeks are the skills your dog carries into adulthood.

What age does K9Elite's puppy program start?

Most puppies start between eight and sixteen weeks. If your puppy is older, we'll tell you honestly on the evaluation call whether the program still fits or whether a different K9Elite track would serve you better.

Do you take the puppy away to train him?

No. K9Elite trains the handler. The puppy stays with you, the work happens in your home, and the skills live in your hands.

What training method do you use?

K9Elite uses a science-based approach grounded in operant conditioning and LIMA — Least Intrusive, Minimally Aversive. We use what works: food, play, clear leash communication and fair, humane guidance tailored to your puppy. One of our trainers explains everything at the evaluation.

How long does a puppy program take?

Most foundations are built across the first twelve to twenty weeks of the puppy's life, scheduled around your puppy's age when you start. The exact length is set on the in-home evaluation.

Do you cover crate training and potty training?

Yes. Crate training, potty routines, and alone-time training are core parts of the puppy curriculum.

Will the puppy stop biting?

With the consistent, well-timed feedback we teach you in the program, yes. Bite inhibition is a skill — not a personality trait.

What about socialization — do you do puppy classes?

We coach socialization in your real life — your neighborhood, your visitors, your vet, your groomer. We don't run group puppy classes built around puppies blowing up at other puppies.

Do you serve the whole OKC metro?

Yes. K9Elite is based in Oklahoma City and serves the surrounding metro. The in-home evaluation is the first step regardless of where you live in the area.
